Arthur sat at his desk close to tears. Once again the head teacher had singled him our and humiliated him in front of the whole school. He

hated him. Hated him for making him have to fight back tears in front of bigger boys. Hated him for making him feel stupid and useless. He hated Mr McDonald with all his heart and he always would.

A History of Hatred

Arthur is now 68 and still hates Mr McDonald. But Mr McDonald is dead. He left his head teacher's life behind him 30 years ago. And even while he still lived, could Arthur's resentment reach him and warm his conscience so that he might feel remorse? No.



Hatred Over Time Becomes Resentment

Hatred held over time tends to simmer down into resentment, though it can be recalled and rekindled into a raging fire easily, it tends to lie half-forgotten under the surface unless provoked. And so Arthur is left with his swallowed anger; there is nowhere to send it, no chance of an apology or any form of emotional compensation.

Flowing with the Seasons

Ayurveda teaches us that everything moves in cycles: like the cycle of day and night, and the cycle of the seasons. In this article we will be focusing specifically on keeping healthy during the Autumn season, when the yearly wheel turns from the hot summer to the colder, drier Autumn. If you read my article on Clues for Easily Understanding the Doshas, you may already have an idea of how well Autumn fits the description of the windy nature of vata.

Of course, the seasons vary depending on where you live, and sometimes the weather is mixed, but for the sake of simplicity I'll keep to the typical idea of Autumn which is cooler, drier, and windier than the season it replaces. Red Bull May Give You More Than Wings

An Australian study has revealed that Red Bull energy drink can increase the risk of heart attacks or strokes.

Lead researcher Scott Willoughby from the Cardiovascular Research Centre at the Royal Adelaide Hospital told an Australian newspaper that "One hour after they drank Red Bull, (the test subjects blood systems) were no longer normal. They were abnormal like we would expect in a patient with cardiovascular disease." Simply put, the blood tests showed that Red Bull causes the blood to become sticky.

In the last article we talked about the general nature of the doshas and why they are so important to us. In this article we're going to look more at the nature of the individual doshas so that you can begin to get to know them and, therefore, get to know more about yourself and why you have certain preferences and personality traits.

A friend of mine recently said that what she likes about Ayurveda is that, like astrology, it gives you a good idea of a person's make up, their talents and inclinations etc. But with Ayurveda you can actively work with that information, and learn to support your strengths and shore up any weaker areas.

As you get to know the doshas you will see them in yourself, your friends and family, in what you eat, and even in the weather.
